Ex-QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Bassist Slams JOSH HOMME For 'F*cking Over' Fans

October 9, 2006

Gigwise.com reports that former QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE bassist Nick Oliveri has lashed out at frontman Josh Homme for what Oliveri characterizes as megalomaniacal behavior.

Homme unceremoniously dumped the bassist from the rock outfit in 2004, and it's something that touches a raw nerve with Oliveri.

Speaking to Gigwise.com, he bursted: "He sold himself short thinking he is 'The Guy,' he should be just the JOSH HOMME BAND," says Oliveri. "[QOTSA] got to be pretty big, so for any one person to think it was just them on their own is just absurd."

He also hit out at QUEEN OF THE STONE AGE's 2005 effort, claiming Homme "dropped the ball" and the guitars were nowhere to be seen.

Oliveri continued: "When there are a lot of kids following your guitar playing for many years and then you turn round and release something that is so compressed and small, you are fucking them (the fans) over.

"If you are gonna start from zero, and start a new sound, then I wish he would at least give me chance to use the name and do something with it."
